Pleasantview - Series 1 - Episode 08 - Crime and Punishment II

Last night, Bella Goth was arrested after her whereabouts were given away by her own daughter, Cassandra. Bella spent the night in a cell at Pleasantview Police Station and has spent most of today so far being questioned about the murder of a man named Henry Price. Henry Price was Bella's secret lover and the reason she left her family over three years ago.

DC Fisher: (sighs) Ok Bella, the tapes off. When I turn it back on, and ask you whether you killed him, I want you to think very carefully about your answer. Your not doing yourself any favours by lieing.
Bella:
I didn't kill him! I loved him! I can't believe he's dead!
DC Fisher:
All the evidence points to you!
Bella:
Well I suggest you take another look at it then!
DC Fisher:
We know you did it!
DC Peters:
Ok, relax Dave. I'd like to take a different route with the questioning, if you don't mind?
DC Fisher:
Be my guest. Interview resumed at 10:20AM.

DC Peters: On the 23rd September, you and Henry arrived at a hotel in Tokyo, called the Black Swan.
Bella:
Yes, but I didn't kill him!
DC Peters:
I never said you did. What happened when you got there?

Henry: That thing we ate on the plane, whatever it was, really didn't agree with my bowels.
Bella:
Henry, maybe a little bit too much information!
Henry:
I think I've lost my mobile too.

Bella: Have you? You didn't leave it on the plane did you?
Henry:
I hope not. What am I going to do if work needs me?
Bella:
I'm sure it'll turn up.
Henry:
Yeah, I must have put it down somewhere.
Bella:
(mutters) The cheating little...!

Bella: I sensed I wasn't the only woman he had on the go, so I had a look at his phone when I had a chance and proved myself right. I couldn't believe he'd been cheating on me.  It doesn't mean that I killed him though! I left him on the toilet and went down to the bar to drown my sorrows...

Receptionist: Miss, are you ok? You look like you have seen a, er... ghost.
Bella:
I'm fine!
Receptionist:
Is there anything I can help you with Miss?
Bella:
Where's the bar?
Receptionist:
Just round the corner Miss.
Bella:
When are the rooms cleaned?
Receptionist:
Tomorrow morning Miss, but I can send someone to clean it now if you like.
Bella:
No, that's fine. Tomorrow is fantastic.

Barman: Good evening Miss. What can I get you?
Bella:
A double vodka please... no ice.
Barman:
Two double vodka's coming up.
Bella:
I only said one.
Barman:
It's happy hour Miss, buy one get one free.
Bella:
Oh right, excellent. Just charge them to room 15 - Henry Price.
Barman:
Ok, Miss.

Bella: Same again please.
Barman:
Bad day Miss?
Bella:
Yeah, something like that.
Barman:
Drinking isn't the answer Miss.
Bella:
I'm not asking for your advice! Just give me my drinks!
Barman:
I'm sorry Miss. I will mind my own business from now on.
Bella:
Good!

Bella: Just give me another drink!
Barman:
Miss, I think you've had enough and happy hour is over.
Bella:
I don't care! Just give me another stinking drink!
Barman:
Miss, I think you should go to bed now.
Bella:
No! I've told you, I don't want your advice.
Barman:
Miss, if you do not leave, I will have to call security.
Bella:
Call them! I don't care!

Bella: I left the bar, and started to head back up to the room. On the way up I decided that I was going to leave Henry, without confronting him about the other women, so I turned around, left the hotel and took a taxi to the airport.
DC Peters: Bella, we know all about Jake.
Bella: Who?
DC Fisher: Jake, he's the guy you used!
DC Peters: Dave!
DC Fisher: Your stories been great Bella, but you've forgot the most important parts! Let me tell the story. After you discovered the messages, you looked around for something to kill him. The only thing you could find was a letter opener in Henry's briefcase..
Bella:
No!
DC Fisher:
You asked him about the messages, and then you stabbed him in the back! Then you left him lying in a pool of his own blood!
Bella: I didn't kill him!

Henry: I'm sorry Bella. I know it's our first night here, and that you probably want to go out somewhere, but I think I'll be on the toilet most of the night!
Bella:
Hmm...

Henry: Are you ok? You look upset.
Bella:
I found your phone.
Henry:
Oh thanks babe, where was it?
Bella:
I read your messages from Janice.
Henry:
Ah... don't worry, she's just an old girl friend who won't let go. I've been meaning to get the phone company to block her messages... Is that a knife? Bella? ...No! I'm telling the truth!
Bella:
We both know I'm not the only woman you've been seeing!

Bella: (Cries) What have I done? I'm a murderer!

Bella: I didn't do it!
DC Fisher:
When you got told to leave the bar, you met Jake. Luckily for us, he came forward and told us about you. We know exactly what you got up to.

Jake: Hi there. I couldn't help but overhear your little argument. I've got plenty of booze in my room if you want to come and share.
Bella:
That would be great. I'm Bella.
Jake:
I'm Jake.
Bella:
Lead the way.

Bella: So Jake, what brings you all the way out here to Japan?
Jake:
Business. How about you?
Bella:
Business too.
Jake:
And, what's led you to drink like a very thirsty elephant today Bella?
Bella:
I've just had a bad day. A deal I was working on fell through.
Jake:
Oh, I'm sorry.
Bella:
Tell me Jake, what made you choose me?
Jake:
What?
Bella:
Why did you pick me to come back to your room for hot steamy sex?
Jake:
Bella, I had no intentions of...
Bella:
Oh come on Jake, were both adults. I know what you want... I know what I want too. You must have a stressful life in your line of work... let me help you relieve some.

Bella: That feels good doesn't it Jake?
Jake:
Bella, this isn't what I wanted from you.
Bella:
Drop the act. Let's go to bed.
Jake:
What!?
Bella:
You know you want to.
Jake:
Of course I do. Any man would, with a nice looking lady like you, but...
Bella:
I'm offering it to you on a plate, Jake! Surely your not going to refuse.

DC Fisher: Then what happened Bella?
Bella: We went to bed together.

DC Fisher: Yes. And then...

... when he was cleaning up in the bathroom...

...you buried the murder weapon under a plant in his room, got dressed, found Jake's car keys...

... and drove away before even saying good bye to the man you used!

Bella: I did it! I killed him!
DC Fisher:
See, that wasn't so hard was it?
DC Peters:
Sergeant, take her back to her cell. We'll arrange the court case.

Angela: Morning.
Lilith:
What's going on?
Angela:
You can't remember?
Lilith:
What?
Angela:
Me and Fran found you 'high' in the toilets.
Lilith:
What!? But.. how? Someone must have slipped something in my drink!
Angela:
Cut the act. I know everything! Kate's been giving you drugs and you've been taking them! I can't believe you Lilith!
Lilith:
Ok, I did take them, on the first few nights here, but yesterday I told her I'd had enough! I said I wouldn't take them anymore.
Angela:
Fran saw Kate giving them to you!
Lilith:
Yeah, and I flushed them down the toilet. Kate must have made sure I took some, somehow.

Angela: Your lieing!
Lilith:
I'm telling the truth. I have taken some, but last night I didn't. That's the honest truth, I swear.
Angela:
I don't know what to do! Your addicted to drugs Lilith, and now you can't even remember taking them.
Lilith:
There not those sort of drugs, and my memory's fine!
Angela:
Then why don't you remember me and Fran finding you last night!?
Lilith:
Maybe Kate slipped me something else.
Angela:
I'm going to have to tell mum about this!
Lilith:
Don't you dare!
Angela:
I haven't got a choice.
Lilith:
Angela, will you stop being such a goody goody!? You don't have to run to mum all the time, and you defiantly don't have to snitch on your own sister.

Mary Sue: So, what did you want to talk about?
Kaylynn:
The divorce papers.
Mary Sue:
They haven't come yet.
Kaylynn:
I know they have Mary. We need you to sign them or we won't be able to get married on news years day. Were already cutting it fine. Daniels furious. He says your doing it on purpose and don't want to get divorced. I thought I'd come and ask, before he comes round here shouting.
Mary Sue:
I don't want a divorce. The girls...
Kaylynn:
...are fine about it! We asked them ourselves. There glad their dad is moving on. They want you to do the same.
Mary Sue:
Why can't you wait until next year?
Kaylynn:
We've waited long enough! Were ready to get married now. We love each other so much.
Mary Sue:
I love Daniel too!

Kaylynn: Oh Mary, I am sorry, but it's time to move on and start a fresh. I'm sorry you found out about us the way you did, and I'm sorry that I didn't try and stop it, but we fell in love and there was nothing either of us could do to stop it! Daniel doesn't love you anymore, and he's not coming back. Please, just sign the papers. Let him be happy. I know you want that for him.
Mary Sue:
I'll think about it.
Kaylynn:
Please Mary, just do it. Then I can take them straight to the solicitors on my way home. I want it sorted now and so does Daniel.
Mary Sue:
(sighs) I'll go and find a pen.
Kaylynn:
I've got one... here.

Lilith: Don't walk off, let's talk about this. I'll stop! I promise. Come back! Where are you going?
Angela:
To call mum.
Lilith:
Please Angela, don't.
Angela:
I can't handle this alone Lilith! I need her help.
Lilith:
If you tell her I will never forgive you!

Kaylynn: Thanks Mary. We really appreciate it.
Mary Sue:
It's ok.
Kaylynn:
Your invited by the way... to the wedding. I know you probably don't want to come but I'm sure Daniel wants you there, and so do I. We've already asked the girls and they said they'd come.
Mary Sue:
I might. I'll have to think about it.
Kaylynn:
Ok, let me know when you can. I need to organise the buffet.
(Phone rings)
Kaylynn:
I'll leave you to get that. Bye.
Mary Sue:
Bye.

Mary Sue: Angela! I'm glad you called. I'm now a divorced women. (Crying) It's not what I want, but I'm doing it for your Dad...

Officer: Bella, dinner time. Bella!? Oh my god!

Lilith: Did you tell her?
Angela:
No.
Lilith:
Oh thank you Angela! I promise I won't do it again.
Angela:
I didn't tell her then, because she was too upset.
Lilith:
What about?
Angela:
Her and dad have just got divorced.
Lilith:
Oh. Come on, we need to get packed so we can head home tomorrow.
Angela:
I can't believe it's Christmas eve tomorrow. When I tell her it'll really spoil Christmas.
Lilith:
Can we please just forget about the drugs? Let's have a good Christmas and not give mum anything else to be upset about. After dad's wedding, we'll think about telling her.
Angela:
I suppose it's best not to tell her right now.
Lilith:
I promise you, I won't do anything like this again.
Angela:
You better not! Come on, let's get packed. I want to be with her.
Lilith:
Yeah, let's go and get ready.

Officer: Sir, it's Bella! She's gone!
DC Fisher:
What!? How? That's not possible! Get a search team out there immediately, and I want a list of every officer who's been down to the cells. Someone must of let her out.
Officer:
Sir, my shift was supposed to end two hours ago. It's my last shift until after Christmas.
DC Fisher:
This is important. She's a murderer! We need to find her.
DC Peters:
Dave, leave her. Sergeant, go home and have a great Christmas.
Officer:
Thank you sir.

DC Fisher: Why the hell did you do that?
DC Peters:
Because it's out last shift until after Christmas too. We can't take the fact that we've lost Bella out on the poor girl. She's been busy the last few days, and just wants to start her Christmas break. I feel the same way.
DC Fisher:
Who's going to look for Bella now?
DC Peters:
Not us.
DC Fisher: We need to find her!
DC Peters:
Relax. We don't have to look for her, because the publics going to. Her picture will be on the front page of every newspaper tomorrow.
DC Fisher:
We need to contact the press then.
DC Peters:
I just did. This internet's marvellous, isn't it? Shame they didn't have it in my day.
DC Fisher:
Your in a good mood.
DC Peters:
What can I say, I'm looking forward to Christmas. I'm now going to go home and start enjoying it. If anyone sees her we can come and get her. Until then, merry Christmas Dave. Good night.
