Pleasantview - Series 2 - Episode 20 - The Day After the Night Before

Cassandra: Calm down, it doesn't mean anything.
Kaylynn:
He said he wouldn't have anything more to do with her!
Cassandra:
But you let her baby sit last night.
Kaylynn:
I trust her with my baby, but not my husband!
Cassandra:
Mary Sue's not interested in him anymore. They've just got history.
Kaylynn:
I just don't want anything to go wrong with this wedding.
Cassandra:
It won't. Daniel loves you, and this time you've got a daughter. He's not going to give you a reason to run out of the church this time.
Kaylynn:
Run out of the church?
Cassandra:
Yeah, when he said he couldn't marry you.
Kaylynn:
Oh.. yeah.
Cassandra:
Are you ok?
Kaylynn:
Yeah... fine. Anyway, thanks for coming over. I've got a few things to do for tomorrow though, so if you don't mind..
Cassandra:
Are you sure you don't want any help?
Kaylynn:
No, it's ok.

Kaylynn: If you see Daniel on your way home tell him to hurry home.
Cassandra:
Ok. And don't worry about him and Mary-Sue. Just ask him where he stayed last night. If he lies, then maybe that's when you should start worrying.
Kaylynn:
Yeah, good idea.
Cassandra:
See you at the wedding tomorrow then.
Kaylynn:
Yeah, see you there.

Mary-Sue: I've missed you more than ever.
Lilith:
You say that every time we come home mum.
Mary-Sue:
Because I miss you more every time. So, how's university going?
Angela:
The same as you asked us on the phone yesterday.
Mary-Sue:
Yeah, but I know you girls don't tell me everything. I have to find things out about one of you, by questioning the other.
Angela:
(Laughs) Mum, we still haven't taken drugs, drunk too much booze or got pregnant!
Mary-Sue:
Good! Have either of you found a boy friend?
Lilith:
I haven't.
Angela:
Me neither.
Lilith:
(sighs).

Mary-Sue: So you have Angela!?
Angela:
Well done Lilith.
Lilith:
Sorry, but I have resisted telling her for a month!
Angela:
Yeah, I thought you'd probably let it slip soon.
Mary-Sue:
So, what's he like? What's his name?
Angela:
Jack.
Mary-Sue:
That's a nice name, but is he a nice person. Lilith?
Lilith:
He's great mum. He's a really sensitive, friendly boy.
Mary-Sue:
Not too friendly I hope. Angela?
Angela:
No mum, he's not too friendly.
Mary-Sue:
Good.
Lilith:
So, now your done questioning us, can you direct us to dad's new place?
Mary-Sue:
You want to go there already!? Don't you want to have some breakfast? I want to talk more about Jack too.
Angela:
I guess it can wait.
Lilith:
Yeah, I'm starving anyway. We had to get up at five this morning to catch the train!
Angela:
Well, I got up at five and dragged her out of bed anyway.
Lilith:
Ha ha.

Kaylynn: Oh, I didn't hear you come in.
Daniel:
I was quiet. I thought you'd be asleep. I wish I was.
Kaylynn:
Big night then?
Daniel:
Very. I can't believe I'm trusting Don as my best man.
Kaylynn:
Me neither. So, where did you stay last night?
Daniel:
Mary-Sue took me in. I really didn't want to come home to you in my state. I didn't have much choice either, Mary-Sue just took me to hers after bailing me out at the police station.
Kaylynn:
Police Station!?
Daniel:
Yep, I sort of got arrested.
Kaylynn:
Your joking!? Why?
Daniel:
I took a pee up a tree.
Kaylynn:
Really!?
Daniel:
Yeah, I was so drunk last night. I don't think I've ever been half as drunk as that.

Daniel: How was your night then?
Kaylynn:
Not as interesting as yours by the sounds of it.
Daniel:
(Laughs). How was Sophie?
Kaylynn:
She was pretty quiet actually.
Daniel:
Good. Was Mary-Sue ok with her, I never even thought about asking her last night?
Kaylynn:
Yeah, she said things went fine.
Daniel:
Good. Looks like we got through our parties. Now we just need to get through tomorrow.
Kaylynn:
Did we defiantly sort everything out?
Daniel:
Yeah. All we need to do is be at the church.
Kaylynn:
I can't wait to get through it this time.
Daniel:
Me neither. It never should of gone wrong last time. If that maniac driver was looking where he was going it never would of happened.
Kaylynn:
Or maybe if I'd looked before running out into the road.
Daniel:
What? You weren't running darling. We were all walking over to the church when it happened.
Kaylynn:
That's not what Cassandra said. She told me that you said you couldn't marry me, and then I ran out of the church and got hit.
(Door bell)
Kaylynn:
Ignore it.
Daniel:
I can't. The girls are coming today.
Kaylynn:
I suppose you better answer it then.

Lilith: Hey dad!
Daniel:
I'm glad you could make it girls.
Angela:
We wouldn't miss our dad's wedding. We didn't last time you tried!
Lilith:
We've come for the house tour.
Angela:
And to meet our new little sister of course.
Daniel:
Come on in girls. I'll tell Kaylynn your here. Just wait in the hall.

Daniel: It is them.
Kaylynn:
I heard, and I don't care! They can hear this for all I care. They can hear that there fathers a liar!
Daniel:
Kaylynn, please, can't we talk about this later?
Kaylynn:
When were you going to tell me!? Were you going to take advantage of my memory loss forever!?
Daniel:
No! I thought you'd remember eventually.
Kaylynn:
Your lieing again!
Daniel:
I'm sorry. I just didn't want to risk losing you!
Kaylynn:
Well you have risked it, by not telling me!

Angela: Is everything ok?
Daniel:
Yeah, fine.
Lilith:
What were you arguing about?
Daniel:
Oh, it's nothing. Don't worry, we'll sort it out before tomorrow.
Lilith:
You better dad. We've come home especially for this.
Daniel:
I know. I'll sort it out. Come on, come and see Sophie.

Kaylynn: (Cries)
Mary-Sue:
Kaylynn? Are you ok?
Kaylynn:
No. Just leave me alone.
Mary-Sue:
What's wrong?
Kaylynn:
Please, I just want to be alone.
Mary-Sue:
Ok.
Kaylynn:
Actually... Can I ask you something?
Mary-Sue:
Sure.

Kaylynn: You were at the last wedding weren't you?
Mary-Sue:
Yeah, but I wouldn't call it a wedding. You got run over before we reached the church.
Kaylynn:
He's told you to lie hasn't he?
Mary-Sue:
You know?
Kaylynn:
Yes. I know what really happened.
Mary-Sue:
Does he know you know?
Kaylynn:
Yes. All he can say to me is sorry!
Mary-Sue:
He is sorry. He's sorry the last wedding went wrong. He made a mistake.
Kaylynn:
You know him better than anyone Mary, but are you sure that he really loves me, and wants nothing more to do with you?
Mary-Sue
: Me and Daniel are just friends, and for you sake and the baby's it will stay that way. I'd be lieing if I said I didn't still love him, because I do. Maybe he still loves me too, but I promise you that it's not going to happen.
Kaylynn:
Really?
Mary-Sue:
Yes. The last wedding was a disaster, but this wedding will be perfect. Daniel will make lieing up to you. Maybe not straight away, but please, don't postpone this wedding. You two belong together.

Kaylynn: I certainly haven't forgiven you for lieing to me.
Daniel:
I know.
Kaylynn:
But we are going to get married tomorrow.
Daniel:
Oh thank you so much Kaylynn. I promise I will never lie to you again.
Kaylynn:
You better not, because if you do you'll never see me or your daughter again.
Daniel:
That's fair. I will make this up to you.
Kaylynn:
Mary-Sue said you would.
Daniel:
I know we can't go on a honeymoon, because of Sophie, but I will take you somewhere soon, after we've got settled.
Kaylynn:
I suppose that's a start (Laughs).
Daniel:
(Laughs) I love you.
Kaylynn:
It's not always worth the hassle, but I love you too.
Daniel:
I better go over to Don's soon.
Kaylynn:
Yeah, I don't want to see you again until the wedding now. It's bad luck!
Daniel:
(Laughs) Right, I'll just get my things and say goodbye to Sophie.
Kaylynn:
See you tomorrow.

The Wedding Day

Lilith: You look totally gorgeous.
Angela:
Yeah, your stunning.
Kaylynn:
Thanks girls, and thanks for helping me get ready too.
Lilith:
Well, we just want this day to go smoothly for our dad.
Angela:
And you of course.
Lilith:
Your right for each other.
Kaylynn:
You girls are so sweet!
Angela:
How long have we got left?
Kaylynn:
About an hour.
Lilith:
We better go and get ready ourselves. See you at the church!
Kaylynn:
Wait, would you two be my bridesmaids? I know it's short notice, but you've both been really helpful today.
Angela:
We'd love too. We have brought matching dresses, but there not very bridesmaid-ish.
Kaylynn:
I'll appreciate it, no matter what your wearing.

Don: Come on Dan, you need to get moving. We've only got an hour left!
Daniel:
I can't.
Don:
Don't be daft.
Daniel:
She deserves better than me. I've lied to her so many times.
Dina:
Yeah, and she's forgiven you. Doesn't that show you she loves you?
Daniel:
I know, but she still deserves better.
Dina:
Have you given him a drink!?
Don:
I only gave him a whiskey to settle his nerves.
Dina:
Don, you promised you wouldn't!
(Doorbell)
Don:
Please say that whoever this is, is bringing good news!

Mary-Sue: I just thought I'd check on how things were going. Is he ready?
Don:
Far from it. He says Kaylynn deserves better.
Mary-Sue:
Right, let me sort him out!

Mary-Sue: Right, lets get you moving!
Daniel:
Mary, you don't understand. Kaylynn deserves more.
Mary-Sue:
Rubbish! Get in that shower right now, or I'll have to strip you down and put you in it myself.
Daniel:
Why are you doing this?
Mary-Sue:
I'm going to make sure you and Kaylynn get married today, even if it kills me!
Daniel:
(Laughs) Why?
Mary-Sue:
You belong together, and now that there's a child involved this needs to be done even more than last time. So, are you going to get in the shower, or I am going to force you in it?
Daniel:
(Laughs) I'm going. And Mary?
Mary-Sue:
Yeah?
Daniel:
Thanks.
Mary-Sue:
It's my pleasure, but if you don't get moving now were going to be late!

Sam: How long are we going to have to wait?
Dirk:
I don't know. Maybe Kaylynn's changed her mind.
Sam:
(Laughs) I hope so.
Dirk:
I don't. This is the first time our dad's have let us out of their sight, since they saw us.. you know.
Sam:
That's true. Can you believe were half brothers?
Dirk:
Not really.
Sam:
Me neither. Do you reckon they made it up?
Dirk:
I don't think so. It's just weird.
Sam:
Yeah, very weird.

John: This is a lovely little church. Reminds me of our wedding.
Jennifer:
Yeah, it's very cute.
John:
I wonder where Kaylynn is? I expected Daniel to be late. Not her!
Jennifer:
Yeah, me too.

Priest: Would everyone please be quiet now. The service is about to start.
Daniel:
She's shown up then?
Priest:
Yes, Kaylynn's outside right now.
Don:
Good luck mate. You won't need it though.
Daniel:
Thanks.

(The wedding march plays)

Dina: She doesn't look too happy.
Mary-Sue:
She's probably just nervous.
Dina:
I hope so.

Daniel: You look stunning.
Kaylynn:
You too.
Daniel:
I was starting to think you weren't coming.
Kaylynn:
(Laughs) It wasn't me holding us up. It was your girls.
Daniel:
I didn't know you'd chose them as bridesmaids.
Kaylynn:
It was a last minute thing. Should we do this then?
Daniel:
Absolutely.

Priest: Here we are, at the second attempt for your marriage. On your request, were skipping straight to the I do's, before anything can go wrong. Before that, I must ask, that if there is anyone in this room, who knows of any reason why Daniel Pleasant and Kaylynn Langerak should not be married to speak now, or forever hold their peace... phew!
(Everyone laughs)
Daniel:
Thank god for that.
Priest:
I certainly will. Moving on then. Do you Kaylynn Langerak, take Daniel Pleasant to be your lawfully wedded husband. To have and to hold from this day forward, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish from this day forward until death parts you.
Kaylynn:
I do.
Priest:
One step left Daniel. Don't mess it up this time (Laughs). Do you Daniel Pleasant, take Kaylynn Langerak to be your lawfully wedded wife. To have and to hold from this day forward, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish from this day forward until death parts you.
Daniel:
I do.

Priest: I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss.. oh you already are.
Don:
(Wolf Whistles)
Dina:
Grow up Don!

Don: Three cheers for the happy couple!
All:
Hip hip hurray! Hip hip hurray! Hip hip...
Lilith:
Oh my god, look up!

Dina: Wow, I wish someone would do something like that for me... Don!
Don:
Have you not seen how much sky writing costs!?

Kaylynn: Oh my god, Daniel! That is such a nice gesture.
Daniel:
Yeah.. well I do love.
Kaylynn:
I love you too, and I forgive you.
Eric:
I think the happy couple are going to have one hell of a honeymoon!
Kaylynn:
Well, it might be at home, but I've got a lot of loving to do!
Daniel:
Well, I can't wait for that, but we have got a party to go to now. Mary, I'll carry Sophie?

Daniel: (Whispers) Thanks for the sky writing.
Mary-Sue:
How did you know it was me?
Daniel:
Who else would it be?
Mary-Sue:
(Laughs)
Daniel:
It must of cost a fortune.
Mary-Sue:
£100 a letter.
Daniel:
Wow. I'll pay you back.
Mary-Sue:
There's no need. It's a wedding present, and a good luck. Anyway, I've got all that money Mortimer left me.
Daniel:
True. I'm glad your happy for me.
Mary-Sue:
I'm just glad you two are finally sorted. Just make sure you make her happy.
Daniel: I will.

Sam: How did she die?
Dirk:
Who?
Sam:
Our mum.
Dirk:
Oh right. Cancer.
Sam:
Really? It must have been hard to see her drift away.
Dirk:
I never saw it happen. Her and dad went away to some clinic, where they did chemotherapy or something. He came back about a month later and told me she died.
Sam:
Oh.
Dirk:
I was only nine.
Sam:
Do you miss her?
Dirk:
A lot.

Darleen: What's your name?
Alan:
Alan Peterson.
Darleen:
What's brought you to rehab today?
Alan:
I want to stop ruining my life. It's already ruined enough. My girl friend left me, I lost my home, and then I murdered an innocent little girl, and went free for it.
Darleen:
Is that when you started to take drugs?
Alan:
No. I started sooner. That's why my girl friend left me.
Darleen:
And do you want to get her back?
Alan:
Yeah, of course.
Darleen:
Then were going to help you. This is one of the best clinics in the country.
Alan:
Really?
Darleen:
I've not always worked here you know. I was once a patient. I was in a similar situation to you. My husband, Darren, wanted me to stop taking heroin. At first, he supported me. He even came to the clinic with me. After a month, when I hadn't changed he became ashamed of me and we got divorced. Then, he went home and told my son, who was only nine at the time, I'd died of cancer!

Alan: Are you serious!? He said you were dead!?
Darleen:
Yeah. I couldn't believe it either when he phoned me for the final time and told me what he'd done. To this day, my son still believes I'm dead.
Alan:
Why don't you just show up and tell him your not?
Darleen:
I will. It's taken me six years to sort my life out, but now that I've got a good job, and my own home. I'm almost ready to go back and tell him his mum is alive!
